Congratulations to Jamie Buehrle & Vicki Riley of Fremont, CA for being voted PTCSV Cruiser of the Month for April 2003.
One day in July 2000, while my buddy and
I were driving through a parking lot near Krispy Kreme. (of all places). I
happen to see this purple looking car with some sharp chrome rims. So, I insisted
for him to go back I just had to see this car, and one look I knew I had to
have it. So the trick was to try to figure out how to get one, it would be
a few months before I would get more serious about getting it. Everywhere
you went in the bay area, they where asking way too much, (I believe $3000+
markup). Finally, near the end of December I got a call from a dealer in Walnut
Creek (Micheal Stead Chrysler) that had one, I was so excited I didn't even
ask what color it was. When I got there, it was a Silver one, but the bad
news was someone else got there before me and bought it. They did have a nice
carmal colored Prowler asking price of $76,000. My buddy told me that it wasn't
meant to be, that if you got it, you would always think that you should have
waited for the color you wanted. On the way back from Walnut Creek, we stopped
at Stoneridge Chrysler. Of course they didn't have any PT's, but the salesmen
said that they were expecting a truckload of them any day and that he would
give me a call as soon as one came in. Then on January 11th, I got that call,
"They have a cranberry limited in" I just told them I am on my way
down. Sure enough, that was the one that I was going to get, I couldn't believe
it was happening. They had to do the PDI and clean up on it and would call
me when it was ready. Then January 14th, my birthday, they called me at work
saying the PT was ready. Now, all I had to do was wait till after work. But
something even better happend, a rolling blackout, so, being there was nothing
we could do at work for awhile, I went down to pickup the PT. While doing
all the lovely paperwork the sales managers comes over, I am thinking the
worst, but he says congratulations, your name was picked for the raffle they
were having. It was a play station 2, that no one else had in the stores.
I never win anything, all this was too much, what a birthday it certainly
was. The next Saturday, January 21st, Katheryn from the computer message boards
sent me an email to come to the Garlic Shoppe to see other Cruiser owners,
we don't have a Cranberry in the group yet. Meeting other cruiser owners that
were just as excited and fanatical as I was, was great.
Believe it or not, my fiance' and I met over a computer message board and
now 2 years later are engaged to be married later this year.
I had my PT for a month when we met and was installing a new grill (mod's
already, little did I know how many more mod's were to come and the variety
of them on the other PT's we would we would see a year later!). Our first
few trips to the mountains and beach were great. The people we would pass
by while driving would honk their horns, wave, and smile at us at stop lights.
We got a kick out of all the attention the PT attracted. What a great feeling
that people we so friendly and all becasue of this PT Cruiser. The PT took
us on our first vacation together to Oregon and Washington. One of the best
vacations ever. After a year of solo PT Cruisin' and hearing about this PT
Cruiser Club, we finally went on our first cruise together with PTCSV for
"Cruise with a Heart". We weren't sure what to expect as this was
brand new for both of us. Everyone was soo nice and down to earth not to mention
the PT's were all very different. Needless to say we have been hooked ever
since. The cars are great fun, but it's truely the great friendships we have
made that make this club so unique. We have great memories over the last year
and a half and look forward to many many more!!
