Congratulations to Ralph & Cathy Raphael of San Lorenzo, CA for being voted PTCSV Cruiser of the Month for March 2003.
Ralph and I already had one '51 Chevy (his toy) a '92 Chrysler
convertible Lebaron (his toy again), a Dodge Dakota truck (his work vehicle)
and a '97 Plymouth Voyager van. This was the car we took most places and it
was my work vehicle. So needless to say we were not looking to buy a new car.
I was still making lease payments on the van. That being said, I will try
to make this as short as possible. R & I refinanced the house to payoff
the credit cards, do some home improvements, and get a better overall rate
on my home loan. The deal was done but no check yet and we went to Las Vegas
for my birthday. While we were there we rented a car. They just so happened
to rent PT's so we got one just for a kick. We were giddy trying to pick out
which color we were going to rent. You should have seen us. We checked them
all over to make sure they were perfect. There were a couple that had some
body booboos so we passed on them. We finally settled on the best one. A fully
loaded Stone White PT Cruising baby. We fell in love with the car. Everyone
looks at you when you are driving a PT, you know. So, while we were touring
Las Vegas in our little PT, we decided "hey, maybe we too can have one
of these great cars". Before then we hadn't even thought of getting one.
When we got back from Las Vegas, a new car was still in the wishing mode.
The finance company called me and they had my checks ready for the refinance.
They had made an error though and had given me $12,000.00 to buy my van. I
told them it was a lease so I was turning it back to Chrysler. They said they
could change the check so lo and behold with some creative thinking we had
a new PT. And we have loved him every since. We sold Ralph's truck and ended
up buying the van too. So we still have 4 vehicles but now I have a toy too.
Thanks for reading this far. And see you later hippotator.
